Our Holistic Approach to Animal Health

Although we are new to Havanese, we are not new to animal care or puppy raising. Our oldest daughter Corrie has raised Australian Shepherd puppies, giving the rest of us much experience through exceptionally large litters (14-18 puppies a litter). Many helping hands were required to bottle feed, love on and clean up after them! We worked together to learn better breeding and puppy raising practices to provide quality pets for others.

Our family has also enjoyed our countless chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, reptiles, cats and kittens, a horse, cows...and yes, our resident "lawn ornaments": the proud (and semi-entitled) peacocks.

Animals are God's wonderful creation and He has given people the incredible responsibility of caring for them. Our animal care begins first with an excellent diet, clean environment, adequate exercise, and personal human attention. Consequently, our animals are strong and healthy. We treat most injuries or illnesses at home, using as natural a means as possible, saving trips to the vet for serious issues only. 

As we resume our adventures in dog breeding, we are grateful for what we already know...and what we continue to learn. The health of our dogs is top priority as part of the process. Our Havanese have been screened and cleared for common abnormalities in this breed. They are fed with superior quality Life Abundance food and given daily love, attention, exercise and grooming. We avoid protocols that would interfere with their whole body health, focusing on holistic care given in our own home as naturally and organically as possible. (Holistic: "an approach to wellness that simultaneously addresses the entire body and how it functions together as a whole.")

Our puppies are not seen by a vet unless there is a significant health concern. We are happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have in regards to holistic dog care and puppy raising.
